NinerTech Frequently Asked Questions:

 

 

  • Where are you located?

    • We are located on the UNC Charlotte campus inside of the Popp Martin Student Union - Room 124. We are down the hallway from the Barnes and Noble Bookstore, not inside of it. The closest parking deck on campus is the Union deck.

 

  • What services do you provide?

    • We have certified in-store technicians that work to repair Apple and Dell laptops for students, staff, and faculty of UNC Charlotte. We can provide hardware services on these brands.

 

  • What if I have something other than Apple or Dell, or I need my phone fixed?

    • If you have a brand other than Dell or Apple, we recommend uBreakiFix. They have two locations near by: 
      • North Charlotte: 9304 Northlake West Drive Suite C Charlotte, NC 28216  (980) 263-2107
      • Concord: 534 Kannapolis Parkway Concord, NC 28027 (704) 467-8326

 

  • What are your store and service hours? 

    • Our retail store is open Monday-Friday 10am-4pm.
    • Our service center is open Monday-Friday 10am-2pm. 

 

  • Do you need an appointment for service?

    • No, we are walk-in only between the hours of 10am-2pm.

 

  • What discounts do you offer?

    • We offer educational pricing on laptops and iPads for all UNC Charlotte students, staff, faculty, and alumni. Discounts are already pre-applied. You will need to present a valid UNC Charlotte ID upon your purchase. 

 

  • Do you hire?

    • We do! We will post any openings we have on Hire-A-Niner. On Hire-A-Niner, you can upload an application that includes your resume and a cover letter. We thoroughly review all applications, and will contact you based on our needs.

 

  • Do you fix laptops without a warranty?  

    • Yes! You will be charged a non-refundable bench fee of $20 to check in your device without a warranty. After our technicians review your device's needs, they will send you a quote. The $20 bench fee paid upfront will be applied to the repair. We will not move forward with the repair until the quote is approved or rejected by the customer.

 

  • Do you offer loaner laptops while mine is being repaired?

    • The Atkins library on campus allows students to rent laptops for free! More info can be found here.

 

  • Do you offer software help?

    • We focus on hardware repairs at NinerTech. OneIT can help with select software issues with UNC Charlotte platforms. You can submit a help desk ticket online here or you can visit their walk up help desk in the library.

 

  • What is NinerCare?

    • NinerCare is a 4-year extended warranty we offer on our Apple and Dell laptops.
    • This will cover accidental damage and one year of loss and theft coverage, with no additional service fees.
    • You may also purchase NinerCare for Dell and Apple laptops not originally bought from NinerTech.
      • There will be a price increase, and the laptop will need to be less than 1 year old and in brand new condition.
      • You will need to come in store with your laptop and proof of purchase receipt before you can add NinerCare.
